Definition
Knowledge Activation is the process by which an AI initiates from an input prompt, retrieves relevant knowledge from external sources such as the BoK (Body of Knowledge) and the Retrieval Knowledge Base, as well as from its internal Pretrained Parametric Knowledge, and forms a coherent Context of Reasoning.
At this stage, the AI reconstructs static knowledge into a “mobilized semantic space,” performing the core process of preparing for generation and understanding.
Knowledge Activation precedes Knowledge Assimilation, functioning as the trigger that dynamically incorporates external knowledge into the AI’s internal state.
SimpleModeling
In SimpleModeling, Knowledge Activation is positioned as the first phase of the AI Knowledge Architecture. The structured documents organized in the SmartDox site and BoK serve as the foundation for knowledge retrieval and context generation in this phase through RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation).
Knowledge Activation is the “starting point of the knowledge circulation,” where AI interprets the BoK and activates its internal context.
Although the term “Knowledge Activation” is also used in cognitive science and AI research in general, SimpleModeling redefines it within the structural framework of the AI Knowledge Architecture.
Here, it does not merely refer to the act of “recalling knowledge,” but rather to the first phase of a knowledge process in which a prompt serves as the starting point for integrating Pretrained Parametric Knowledge and the Retrieval Knowledge Base to generate Assimilated Knowledge within the AI.
In this way, because SimpleModeling assigns a structural and systematic meaning to a generally used term, it classifies it as simplemodeling_specific.
